From desert plant to novel mode of action: Potentiator of dopamine uptake is key to new treatments
Postdoc
University of Copenhagen
Laura Mikél McNair, postdoc, Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 2,000,000.
Her project is devoted to the study of a particular fatty acid only found in a plant that grows in the Australian desert. This fatty acid has been shown to have a superior ability to promote cells’ absorption of dopamine. Therefore, in time, the plant may prove of interest with respect to developing new therapies for disorders such as ADHD.
