Prevention of epilepsy

Associate Professor
Aarhus University Hospital

Jakob Christensen, associate professor, Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University Hospital, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 2,000,000.

No study to date has combined the use of comprehensive genome wide data with detailed information of brain lesions and epilepsy. This project will retrieve and analyse samples from 4,000 patients diagnosed with epilepsy after brain lesions. Samples from the iPSYCH database will be used as control samples, offering a unique opportunity to study epilepsy after brain insults. The study is expected to identify new insight into disease mechanisms and thus new targets for prevention of epilepsy following acquired brain injury.
