Wearable Sensors for Monitoring of Levodopa in Parkinson’s Disease

Professor
The Technical University of Denmark

Winnie Edith Svendsen, professor, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, Technical University of Denmark, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 2,000,000.

This project explores the potential of wearable sensors within disease treatment. Specifically, it investigates if the Levodopa plasma concentration in patients with Parkinson’s disease can be obtained through minimally invasive measurements using microneedles as part of a wearable sensor. These microsized needles can be inserted painlessly in the skin, allowing measurement of biomarkers like Levodopa and ensuring it remains constant by giving the proper dose.
