Are hardwired circuits the brain’s scaffold for learning ?

Noëmie Mermet-Joret, assistant professor, DANDRITE, Aarhus University, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 1,999,998.

This project investigates if hard-wired circuitry in the amygdala provides the scaffolding for rapid learning of aversive experiences. If proven to be true, this work will transform our view on the interaction between two conceptually opposed mechanisms, innateness, and learning.
