The third season of the Brainstorm podcast, Videnskab.dk’s neuroscience venture, has taken to the air.

Any Dane, of any age, interested in science can now tune into new tales from the world of neuroscience, told against a backdrop of socially relevant themes, with contributions from several young scientists.

The Brainstorm series continues in a new and expanded format, with funding from the Lundbeck Foundation. The first two seasons of Brainstorm consisted primarily of podcasts. In this season, however, the editorial team is adding news and articles to the familiar format, providing extra space for novel scientific studies of the brain. Brainstorm delves into hot topics in socially relevant subjects and invites young scientists to take part – both by contributing articles and as guests in the podcast studio.

‘Brainstorm fans can look forward to even more solid, critical science journalism about the brain, presented in an easy-to-understand and entertaining style. We’re holding onto the weekly podcast but will also be producing loads of cool articles. It’s going to be even bigger and better than before,’ says Jais Baggestrøm Koch, podcast host and the project’s producer.

Helping Danes understand the brain

Brainstorm communicates knowledge about the brain in new ways and in an easily understandable format, directed particularly at younger audiences. The aim is to give Danes a better understanding of the brain and brain health – and it’s important to the Lundbeck Foundation that it is accessible to everyone:

‘The Lundbeck Foundation is interested in the brain in its broadest sense, and we want to give Danes the opportunity to keep up with advances in neuroscience as well as the research that is conducted on our most complex organ. Brainstorm shares this ambition,’ says Jan Egebjerg, the Lundbeck Foundation’s Director of Research:

‘Every week, the hosts take us on a journey of exploration – into every nook and cranny of news about the brain. They delve into its mysteries and present knowledge about the brain against a backdrop of vibrant tales, dusting off those old textbooks and language. It’s a format most Danes are able to understand – and learn from.’

The first podcast episode of season three is available from Thursday, 16 September 2021. You can read all the Brainstorm articles at videnskab.dk from 17 September 2021.

NB! Videnskab.dk and the Brainstorm podcast are primarily for Danish audiences and are therefore only available in Danish.
